Cornell ECE graduate, Jeremy Blum has recently published his first book, Exploring Arduino, Tools and Techniques for Engineering Wizardry. Based on his popular Youtube Series, Tutorials For Arduino, this unique book uses the popular Arduino microcontroller platform as an instrument to teach readers about topics in electrical engineering, programming, and human-computer interaction.

Both budding hobbyist and engineers will benefit from the perfectly-paced lessons that walk through useful, artistic, and educational exercises that gradually get more advanced. In addition to specific projects, the book shares best practices in programming and design that can be applied to personal projects. Code snippets and schematics will serve as useful references for future projects even after all the topics in the book have been mastered. (Description from the publisher.)

“I've always been passionate about engineering and teaching,” said Jeremy, “but it wasn't until I arrived at Cornell five years ago that I realized what the true potential of an engineer could be. After having the opportunity to dive deeply into exciting new technologies in my studies, research, and extracurricular activities, I realized the extreme need for more engineers who would be able to work alongside me and other Cornell engineers to better the global community.

“In that vein, I've produced videos that have introduced millions of people around the world to electrical engineering and computer science. I hope that this book will allow me to reach even more sprouting engineers (young and old) around the world who are looking for some direction in how to apply their excitement for technology and science.”

Jeremy received his master’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Cornell University, where he previously received his Bachelor’s degree in the same field. At Cornell, he oversaw the design and creation of several sustainable buildings around the world and domestically through his founding and leadership of Cornell University Sustainable Design, a nationally recognized sustainable design organization that has been specifically lauded by the CEO of the U.S. and World Green Building Councils.

Jeremy has applied his passion for electrical engineering to design solar home energy monitoring systems, revolutionary fiber-optic LED lighting systems, and sun-tracking smart solar panels. He is also responsible for helping to start a first-of-its-kind entrepreneurial co-working space that contributes to the development of dozens of student start-ups (including some of his own creation) every year.

Exploring Arduino will be available at your local bookstore, from Wiley, Amazon and Barnes and Noble, and will be available as an ebook. Find out more at www.exploringarduino.com or www.jeremyblum.com.
