Eilyan Bitar Named Croll Fellow

The School of Electrical and Computer Engineering is pleased to announce that Assistant Professor Eilyan Bitar has been named a Croll Faculty Fellow.  This announcement comes from the Engineering Dean’s office in late November. 

Eilyan joined the faculty as an Assistant Professor in July 2012.  Prior to joining Cornell, he was a postdoctoral fellow (2011-2012) at both the California Institute of Technology in the department of Computing and Mathematical Sciences and the University of California, Berkeley in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. A native Californian, he received both his Ph.D. (2011) and B.S. (2006) from the University of California, Berkeley in Mechanical Engineering. 

The donor, David Croll, received his BS degree from Engineering in 1970.  David’s primary philanthropic interests at Cornell have been Sustainable Energy Systems and the Faculty Renewal Initiative.  Croll is a member of the Board of Trustees since 2005, David currently serves as vice chair of the Board of Trustees and as chair of the Trustee Finance Committee.  He is also a member of the Executive, Board Composition and Governance, Development, and Academic Affairs Committees, as well as the Major Gifts Committee.  He is a dedicated and active volunteer, and has taken a lead role in engaging other alumni in the Boston area.  David (also Harvard MBA ’73) is a founder and managing partner of M/C Venture Partners, a venture capital firm located in Boston that focuses primarily in the services sectors of communications, technology, and media, cultivating lucrative investment opportunities in areas such as wireless services, fiber communications services, out-of-home advertising and technology-services.
