VLSI circuits and systems

Electronics is one of the most exciting field of research with huge impact on various aspects of society. Not so long ago, a single transistor used to cost a few dollars. Nowadays, for a few dollars we can buy a memory or a microprocessor which has hundreds of millions transistors on it. It seems that no other field has had such a fast growth. The continuous development of high performance integrated circuits has led to an explosion in the communication and computation systems. At Cornell, we work on the next generation of electronic components and systems. We cover different aspects including new materials, novel devices, high speed electronics, low power systems, and low noise circuits. In order to push the boundaries of existing systems, we blend multiple disciplines within the fields of electrical engineering, applied physics, material science, and mathematics into a coherent research theme.
